Orbital, the pioneering British electronic duo formed by brothers Phil and Paul Hartnoll, emerged in the 1990s as a leading force in techno music, blending elements of ambient, electro, punk, and film scores. Their critically acclaimed albums, such as 1993's Orbital 2 and 1996's In Sides, appealed to both rock and electronic music fans, with their sound evolving to encompass more cinematic influences and film scoring. Despite disbanding in 2004 and reuniting in 2009, Orbital continued to push boundaries with releases like 2012's Wonky and film scores for projects like Pusher.

Growing up in Dartford, Kent, the Hartnoll brothers fused early-'80s punk and electro influences to create their signature sound, which gained recognition with their breakout hit "Chime" in 1990. Orbital's live performances, marked by their innovative use of technology and visual elements, set them apart in the electronic music scene.
