Biography
French artist Oklou creates dreamy, futuristic pop music influenced by ambient, trance, and R&B. Her 2020 mixtape Galore is a blend of soul-searching and escapist tracks, characterized by atmospheric synths and electronically altered vocals. Collaborating with artists like A.G. Cook and Dua Lipa, Oklou released her debut album, choke enough, in 2025.
Originally from western France, Oklou, also known as Marylou Mayniel, draws inspiration from producers like Arca and James Blake. After releasing music under the name Loumar, she formed the all-female DJ crew TGAF and joined the label NUXXE. Her EP The Rite of May featured production from Sega Bodega and Bok Bok, showcasing her unique blend of electronic pop. Oklou's journey led to the release of Galore and her debut album, choke enough, in 2025, solidifying her presence in the experimental music scene.
