Biography
Maya Bouldry-Morrison, known as Octo Octa, is a prominent underground house music producer who debuted in the early 2010s with releases on 100% Silk before evolving into a breakbeat-heavy sound showcased on releases like Resonant Body. She co-founded the T4T LUV NRG label with partner Eris Drew, and the duo often collaborates on tracks and performances, including their Fabric Presents mix CD. Bouldry-Morrison's musical journey began in high school, and she transitioned from IDM to house music, signing with 100% Silk in 2011 and releasing albums like Between Two Selves.
Octo Octa continued her musical exploration with releases on various labels post-100% Silk, including Argot and Running Back, before coming out as transgender in 2015. Her second album, Where Are We Going?, released on HNYTRX in 2017, showcased a breakbeat-heavy sound. Collaborations with Eris Drew, such as the acclaimed 2018 EP and the 2019 split single Day After a Night with U/Stars & Water, further solidified her presence in the electronic music scene. Octo Octa's 2023 trancey Dreams of a Dancefloor EP continues to captivate audiences with her hypnotic sound.
