Noah and the Whale rose to prominence in the British folk scene with their 2008 debut album Peaceful, the World Lays Me Down, featuring the hit single "5 Years Time." Originally formed in Twickenham in 2006, the band's lineup included vocalist Charlie Fink, fiddle player Tom Hobden, and bassist Matt Owens. While Laura Marling left the group in 2008, the band continued to evolve their sound with subsequent albums like The First Days of Spring and Last Night on Earth, showcasing a departure from their folk roots.
