Nikhil D’Souza, a versatile singer-songwriter, seamlessly navigates between his role as a Bollywood playback artist and his personal music, blending heartfelt Indian indie and Western pop influences. Self-taught in guitar, D’Souza ventured into music after studying geology, leading to a breakthrough in Bollywood with the acoustic ballad "Sham" from the film Aisha in 2010. His diverse discography includes hits like “Mere Bina” and “O Gujariya,” showcasing his ability to transition between acoustic sounds and pulsating EDM tracks while drawing inspiration from Western pop and rock icons. D’Souza’s musical journey extends beyond Bollywood, with solo releases like the alt-rock EP Simple Kind of Love in 2018 and the intimate indie gem Waqt in 2020, created during lockdown. His repertoire includes a mix of original compositions and covers, such as the popular Indian pop track “Vaaste” and touching renditions of songs by Simon & Garfunkel and a-ha.
