Biography
Nick Waterhouse is a songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist known for his vintage-inspired pop and R&B sound that captures the essence of the 1950s and early '60s with a modern energy. Born in Southern California in 1986, Waterhouse's musical upbringing was influenced by classic blues, soul, and rock artists, leading him to pursue a career in music after forming the mod-styled R&B group the Intelligentsia during high school. He honed his craft in San Francisco, where he immersed himself in vintage sounds, eventually releasing music on his own label before signing with Innovative Leisure and releasing his debut EP "Is That Clear" in 2011.
Waterhouse's career gained momentum as he produced music for other artists and released albums like "Never Twice" in 2016, featuring collaborations with fellow soul artist Leon Bridges. His work on the remix of "Katchi" by Ofenbach reached number one on the French pop chart in 2017. Waterhouse's subsequent releases, including his self-titled album in 2019 and "Promenade Blue" in 2021, showcased his evolution as a musician with a nod to his retro influences. In 2023, he continued to blend old-school vibes with contemporary flair on his album "The Fooler," following his successful collaboration on Jon Batiste's Grammy-winning album "We Are."
