Biography

Formed in the late '80s in Mooloolaba, Australia, Newsboys gained popularity in the 1990s as a Christian rock band with a global audience. Led by different frontmen over the years, including John James, Peter Furler, and Michael Tait, the band explored various genres from rock to worship music, earning Grammy nominations, gold records, and over 30 number one singles. In 2019, an expanded lineup known as Newsboys United released a studio album.

After their formation, Newsboys underwent lineup changes and musical evolution, transitioning from perceived religious clichés to mainstream success in the 2000s. With hits like "It Is You" and albums such as Thrive and Go, the band maintained a strong presence in both Christian and secular music scenes. Over the years, members came and went, leading to the formation of Newsboys United in 2018 and the release of the United LP in 2019.
