Biography

The New York Dolls, pioneers of punk rock, emerged in late 1971 with a sound influenced by the Rolling Stones, the Stooges, David Bowie, and T. Rex. Despite releasing two albums in the early '70s that achieved cult status but little commercial success, the band's impact on the punk rock movement was significant.
