Nenny, born Marlene Tavares in 2002 in Vialonga, Portugal, experienced various emigrations seeking better living conditions, first to the suburbs of Paris at age 11 and then to Luxembourg in 2019, all of which heavily influence her music. Growing up in a household filled with Cape Verdean music, Nenny began writing lyrics at age 10, addressing themes like racism and prejudice in her compositions.
Finding solace in music, Nenny publicly debuted with the single ΓÇ£SushiΓÇ¥ in March 2019, followed by ΓÇ£B├║ssolaΓÇ¥ two months later, quickly propelling her into the forefront of the emerging Portuguese Hip Hop scene. In 2020, she released her debut EP ΓÇ£Aura,ΓÇ¥ featuring a blend of rap, trap, soul, R&B, and afro influences, including standout tracks like ΓÇ£Dona Maria,ΓÇ¥ a tribute to her mother, along with the popular hits ΓÇ£SushiΓÇ¥ and ΓÇ£B├║ssola.ΓÇ¥
