Reggaeton duo Ñejo y Dálmata, hailing from Ponce, Puerto Rico, gained recognition early in their careers for their innovative approach to urban tropical music. Both artists, known individually as Ñejo and Dálmata, collaborated on various projects, showcasing a unique blend of styles that challenged traditional reggaeton norms. Their debut album, Broke and Famous, made a statement by emphasizing musical talent over material wealth, incorporating diverse influences such as vallenato, salsa, and rock. Despite facing criticism from purists, the album's lead single, "Algo Musical," achieved success on Billboard's Latin Tropical Airplay and Hot Latin Tracks charts in 2007 and 2008, respectively.
