Moonstar88 is a Filipino band formed in 1999, consisting of Maysh Baay (vocals), Herbert Hernandez (guitars), Buddy Zabala (bass), and Bon Sundiang (drums). They gained recognition with the release of their debut album "Popcorn" in 2001, produced by Chuck Isidro, which featured hits like "Torete" and "Sa Langit". The band received accolades such as Song of the Year, Band of the Year, and New Artist of the Year from a popular radio station.

In 2002, Moonstar88 released their second album "Press to Play", produced by Chito Miranda and Robert Javier, which further solidified their commercial success with songs like "Sulat" and their rendition of "Ang Pagibig Kong Ito". Subsequent albums like "Todo Combo" in 2007 and "This Year" in 2012 continued to showcase the band's musical growth, with hits like "Tadhana" and "Ligaw". Their work on "This Year" earned them recognition in various award ceremonies, including the ADOBO Design Awards, AWIT, and STAR awards.
