Monteverdi Choir

The Monteverdi Choir, founded in 1964 by John Eliot Gardiner, emerged as a pioneering force within the early music movement in Britain. Initially focused on Baroque music, the choir gained international acclaim through its epochal Bach Cantata Pilgrimage in 2000, showcasing a diverse repertoire that includes works by Bach, Handel, Mozart, and Schubert. Despite its progressive roots, the Monteverdi Choir maintains a conservative sound and continues to be a popular and enduring ensemble, particularly in Britain.

Throughout the 2010s, the Monteverdi Choir released notable recordings such as Bach's Mass in B minor and Mendelssohn's Symphony No. 2, displaying a range of musical styles and collaborations with renowned orchestras. The choir's versatility was further highlighted in the 2019 album Love is Come Again, featuring music for an Easter play, demonstrating the group's ongoing artistic relevance and vitality.
