Biography

Mono/Poly, also known as Charles Dickerson, rose from the instrumental hip-hop scene in Los Angeles in the 2000s, with ties to the Low End Theory club nights and collaborations with artists like Flying Lotus. Originally from Bakersfield, he released singles and EPs on labels such as Circulations and Fat City before joining Flying Lotus' Brainfeeder roster. His debut EP, Manifestations, in 2011 showcased his unique beat-making style with a touch of humor, leading to subsequent releases like Golden Skies in 2014 and Cryptic in 2016, featuring collaborations with Thundercat and Seven Davis, Jr. Dickerson continued to expand his sound by working with vocalist Alyss on the 2017 EP Union.
