Biography

Let’s Start Degeneracy, Microwave's fourth full-length record, marks a liberated new chapter for the Atlanta trio, free from external constraints. Recorded in Atlanta and Nashville, mixed by Josh Wilbur, and mastered by Brad Blackwood, the album defies genre norms, drawing from a range of influences including ambient pop, R&B, psychedelia, and Sublime. Lyrically, the album is a journey of self-discovery and revelation, inspired by personal experiences and a search for authenticity.

Written after transformative experiences with ayahuasca in Peru, Let’s Start Degeneracy explores themes of shedding old habits, releasing fear, guilt, and shame, and embracing self-care and happiness. As the band reconvened post-pandemic, vocalist/guitarist Nathan Hardy, bassist/vocalist Tyler Hill, and drummer Timothy “Tito” Pittard found their way back to Microwave, embodying a newfound sense of freedom and authenticity in their music.
