Biography

Michael Henderson, a talented vocalist and bassist, began his career as a session player in Detroit in the '60s, working with Motown acts and later touring with icons like Stevie Wonder and Aretha Franklin. He gained recognition for his vocal debut on Norman Connors' "Valentine Love," which reached number ten on the R&B chart. Henderson's success led to a Buddah deal in 1976, where he scored his first Top Ten R&B hit with "Take Me I'm Yours" and continued to release hits like "Wide Receiver" in 1980.

Transitioning to EMI in 1986, Henderson collaborated with artists like Phyllis Hyman and Bobby Womack while also producing for groups like the Dramatics. He played a significant role in the discovery of Cherrelle and worked closely with her for several years. Henderson's contributions to the music industry were vast, and his legacy lives on through his timeless music. He passed away in July 2022 at the age of 71 after battling cancer.
