MF Grimm

MF Grimm, a Manhattan-born rapper, saw his hip-hop career derailed by a tragic shooting in the early '90s, leaving him paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair. Despite the setback, he later found success as the founder and CEO of Day by Day Entertainment, a prominent label in New York's independent rap scene. Grimm, also known as Percival Carey, had early beginnings as a child actor on Sesame Street and transitioned to a serious rap career at 14, collaborating with industry heavyweights like Kool G Rap and 2Pac.

Amidst the rise of independent hip-hop in the late '90s, MF Grimm reemerged with releases on Bobbito Garcia's Fondle 'Em Records, showcasing his resilience and creativity. Forming Monster Island Czars inspired by kung-fu motifs and Godzilla monsters, he continued to make music and support other artists through his label. Despite legal challenges and personal conflicts, including a falling-out with MF Doom, Grimm persevered, releasing groundbreaking projects like the triple-disc album "American Hunger" and inspiring a graphic novel adaptation of his life story by DC Comics' Vertigo imprint.
