Biography

Formed in 1998 by Emily Haines and Jimmy Shaw, Metric ventured from Toronto to NYC in search of like-minded artists. Joining forces with drummer Joules Scott Key and bassist Joshua Winstead in 2001/2002, the band emerged as a key player in the city's alt-rock scene alongside acts such as LCD Soundsystem and The Strokes, rejecting major label offers to release boundary-pushing albums on their own terms.
