Biography

Born in Manisa in 1978 and originally from Malatya, Mehmet Erdem graduated from Izmir Science High School and Boğaziçi University Mechanical Engineering Department. He started playing the mandolin at the age of 5 and later learned to play the bağlama, ud, and cümbüş. During his high school years, Erdem was a musician and vocalist in various bands and also worked as a studio musician on several artists' albums, receiving lessons from prominent musicians in instruments such as the ud, cümbüş, fretless guitar, and bağlama.

Erdem gained recognition in 2008 for his collaboration with Özgür Akgül on the music for the film "Deli Deli Olma," winning the award for "Best Film Music" at the Altın Portakal Film Festival. Throughout his career, he has composed original music for numerous films and series, including "Çalgı Çengi," "Memleket Meselesi," "Leyla ile Mecnun," and more. With four studio albums to his name, such as "Herkes Aynı Hayatta" (2012) and "Neden Böyleyiz" (2018), Erdem not only showcases his own songs but also reinterprets beloved tracks with new arrangements and unique duets, earning praise from audiences both domestically and internationally.
