Prior to his controversial hit "Wet Dream," Romeo found success with the vocal trio the Emotions. He later transitioned into roots reggae and became a significant figure in the genre, releasing politically charged singles in support of the PNP party in Jamaica during the 1970s.

Romeo's career saw highs and lows, with standout moments including the success of his album "War ina Babylon" produced by Lee Perry, and collaborations with renowned producers like Tapper Zukie and Mafia & Fluxy. Despite some setbacks and a move to the U.S. in the late 1970s, Romeo continued to release music, with notable albums such as "Selassie I Forever" and "Horror Zone." His contributions to reggae music, both politically and artistically, solidify his legacy in the genre.
