Formed in 2014 in Mexico City, the trio Matisse, named after the French painter, initially consisted of Pablo Preciado and Román Torres. Both met while studying classical music at the Guadalajara Conservatoire. They caught the attention of Paul Forat, vice-president of Sony Music Mexico, who signed them to a writing deal. Melissa Robles later joined the group, known for her cover of Carlos Rivera's "Fascinación." Matisse's debut album, Sube, was released in 2015, featuring lush ballads and beautiful harmonies. Their subsequent albums, Por Tu Bien and Tres, continued their signature sound with a blend of folk, pop/rock, and singer/songwriter elements.
