Biography

Markéta Irglová, a Czech singer based in Iceland, gained recognition for her work on the independent Irish film "Once," where she co-wrote music with Irish singer-songwriter Glen Hansard. Their duet "Falling Slowly" earned them an Academy Award for Best Song in 2008. Following their success, they formed the band The Swell Season and released the album "Strict Joy (Deluxe Edition)" in 2009 before pursuing solo careers. Irglová released solo albums "Anar" in 2011, "Muna" in 2014, and "Lila" in 2022, along with a concept album trilogy during the Covid pandemic.

Irglová, also known for her collaboration with The Swell Season, is set to release a new album with the band in 2025. She works alongside her Icelandic producer husband Sturla Mio Thorisson at Masterkey Studios, where they create music together. Their collaborative efforts have taken them to prestigious stages worldwide, showcasing their talents as musicians and songwriters.
