Luiz Melodia

Luís Melodia, a talented composer and interpreter in the MPB genre, has created several classic songs such as "Juventude Transviada" and "Pérola Negra." Born into a musical family in Rio's Estácio neighborhood, Melodia's eclectic blend of traditional samba and pop music garnered attention from poets Waly Salomão and Torquato Neto in the 1970s. Known for hits like "Maravilhas Contemporâneas" and "Ébano," he gained recognition with his renditions recorded by artists like Gal Costa and Maria Bethânia. Despite an erratic discography, Melodia made a comeback with hits like "Codinome Beija-Flor" in the 2000s after a period of obscurity.

His early involvement in music led to the formation of the group Instantâneos and collaborations with renowned artists, propelling his career forward. Melodia's musical journey includes milestones like his debut LP "Pérola Negra" in 1973 and the theme song for the soap opera "Pecado Capital" from his album "Maravilhas Contemporâneas." After a hiatus, he returned to the music scene with the album "Nós," featuring his interpretation of "Negro Gato."
