Los Melódicos

Formed in the late 1950s by Renato Capriles, Venezuelan tropical orchestra Los Melodicos made their debut on the radio show Su Revista Musical in July 1958 and were named the best Venezuelan orchestra that year. Led by singers Víctor Piñero and Germán Vergara, the group signed with Discomoda and released their debut album in May 1959. Over the years, they saw changes in lead vocalists, with Norma López and Emilita Dago joining in the early '60s and Chico Salas and Doris Salas in the late '70s. In 1998, Los Melodicos marked their 40th anniversary with the release of two compilations titled 40 Aniversario.
