Biography
Los Chicos, a renowned rhumba band from Spain, emerged in 1973 in Madrid and gained popularity in the early to mid-'80s with albums like Amor de Compra y Venta and Déjame Solo. Led by vocalist Juan Antonio Jiménez, the trio's fusion of rhumba flamenca with pop/rock drew comparisons to Los Chunguitos. After Jiménez's departure in 1990, Emilio's son Júnior joined the band, leading to the release of albums like Sangre Gitana and Gitano. Following a hiatus, Los Chicos returned in 2001 with Ladrón de Amores and continued their legacy with releases like Cabibi in 2002.
The band's sound evolved over the years, blending traditional rhumba elements with pop/rock sensibilities. Despite internal conflicts and Jiménez's departure in 1990, Los Chicos persevered, releasing new material with Júnior on board. Their back catalog was reissued with remastered quality in 2005 by Universal Music, and a best-of compilation, Hasta Aquí Hemos Llegado, was released in 2008, solidifying Los Chicos' enduring impact on the Spanish music scene.
