Biography

Formed in Boston in 1990, Letters to Cleo blends hooky pop songs with a rock band's muscle. Led by powerhouse vocalist Kay Hanley, the band released their debut album Aurora Gory Alice in 1993 under CherryDisc Records, gaining attention from major label Giant Records. Their hit single "Here & Now" from the sophomore album Wholesale Meats and Fish became a Top Ten hit on the Modern Rock Tracks chart and was featured on the TV show Melrose Place.

After releasing their final recording Sister in 1998, Letters to Cleo disbanded in 2000. However, they briefly reunited for projects like completing work on the animated series Molly-O. The band members pursued individual endeavors, with Hanley launching a solo career, Jones forming American Hi-Fi, and Riebling, Polce, and McKenna exploring production and engineering. Letters to Cleo reunited periodically for special events and released new music in 2016 with the Back to Nebraska EP.
