Leonidas Kavakos

Renowned violinist and conductor Leonidas Kavakos, born in Athens in 1967, rose to fame through his exceptional talent and musical upbringing. He made his debut in 1984, winning the International Sibelius Competition in 1985 and subsequently embarking on a successful international touring career. Kavakos is known for his diverse repertoire, including acclaimed recordings of the Sibelius Violin Concerto and collaborations with esteemed musicians like Emanuel Ax and Yo-Yo Ma.

In addition to his solo career, Kavakos has made significant contributions to chamber music and conducting. He has served as principal guest artist with the Camerata Salzburg and conducted notable performances, such as leading the Verbier Festival Orchestra in Mozart's Sinfonia Concertante. Kavakos also established a chamber music festival in Athens and continues to engage in master classes and collaborative projects with world-class musicians.
