Biography

Leo Sayer, born Gerard Sayer, rose to fame in the late '70s with a series of polished mainstream pop hits. Starting his career in the late '60s with the Terraplane Blues Band, he transitioned to a successful solo career after being discovered by British pop star Adam Faith. Sayer's early hits like "The Show Must Go On" and "Long Tall Glasses (I Can Dance)" propelled him to international success, with his album Endless Flight becoming a million-seller in the U.S. and the U.K. However, his popularity waned by the '80s, with his last major U.S. hit being "More Than I Can Say" in 1981.

Despite his '80s decline in the U.S., Sayer continued to have chart success in the U.K. until 1983, when "Till You Come Back to Me" marked his final appearance on the charts. Although he attempted a comeback in 1990 with Cool Touch, it failed to reignite his career. Leo Sayer's legacy remains tied to his '70s heyday, where he captivated audiences with his distinctive voice and catchy pop tunes that topped charts on both sides of the Atlantic.
