Biography

Leftover Salmon, a Colorado-based jamgrass band, rose to prominence in the jam band scene with their unique blend of bluegrass, rock, Cajun, and American roots music. Following a hiatus in the 2000s, the band returned to touring and recording, releasing albums like Aquatic Hitchhiker and Something Higher. In 2021 and 2023, they revisited their bluegrass roots with the albums Brand New Good Old Days and Grass Roots, respectively, showcasing both acoustic and progressive elements.

Formed in 1989 in Boulder, Leftover Salmon emerged from a merger of two local bands and quickly gained traction through heavy touring and independent releases. After signing with Hollywood Records, they achieved commercial success with albums like Euphoria and The Nashville Sessions. The band faced tragedy with the loss of banjoist Mark Vann in 2002 but regrouped in 2007 and continued to evolve their sound with the addition of banjoist Andy Thorn in 2010. Their recent albums highlight a return to their bluegrass roots while maintaining their signature musical exploration.
