Biography

Lambchop, led by songwriter Kurt Wagner, defied classification in the 1990s with their genre-blending music encompassing elements of country, soul, jazz, electronics, and avant-garde noise. Constantly evolving, the band's sound ranged from detuned country accents to polished chamber pop and cool electronic surfaces across albums like Nixon, Mr. M, and This (Is What I Wanted to Tell You), culminating in their 2022 release, The Bible. Despite lineup changes, Wagner's lyrical and melodic vision kept their music fresh and innovative.

Formed in 1986, Lambchop started as a three-piece before expanding to over a dozen members over the years. Renamed from Posterchild to Lambchop in 1992, they released their debut LP a year later, setting the stage for an eclectic discography marked by experimentalism and diverse influences. With releases like Aw C'Mon, No, You C'mon, and FLOTUS, Lambchop continued to push boundaries, culminating in their 2022 album The Bible, blending funk, R&B, and jazz into Wagner's distinctive musical tapestry.
