Lucho Argain, born Luis Guillermo Pérez Cedrón, began his music career in 1959 with Discos Fuentes. He formed an orchestra inspired by Cuban Sonora Matancera, which disbanded in 1963. In 1977, Pedro Lucho Argaín took over leadership of La Sonora Dinamita, a group that played a significant role in the resurgence of cumbia as a popular artform, releasing numerous albums and singles that achieved chart success.
La Sonora Dinamita, under various leaderships and lineup changes, has been credited with revitalizing cumbia across Latin America. Their music has garnered international acclaim, with hits like "Mi Cucu" and successful albums such as Fulminante. The band has toured globally since 1995, performing in Europe and North America. In 2016, they released a collaborative album titled Juntos la por Sonora, featuring duets with prominent Mexican artists.
