Biography

In 1992, thirteen-year-old rappers Chris "Daddy Mack" Smith and Chris "Mack Daddy" Kelly, known as Kris Kross, shot to fame with the hit single "Jump," which sampled the Jackson 5's "I Want You Back." Their debut album, Totally Krossed Out, sold over four million copies thanks to their collaboration with producer Jermaine Dupri. The success of their first album led to a tour with Michael Jackson and appearances on various TV shows. Their subsequent albums, Da Bomb and Young Rich & Dangerous, both achieved platinum status.

Following their third album release, Kris Kross recorded over 20 unreleased songs. Smith later wrote and produced the track "Best Friends Forever," a tribute to his late childhood friend. The song, which incorporates elements of "That's What Friends Are For" by Burt Bacharach and Carole Bayer Sager, was released on Smith's website, urbanemuse.com.
