Kraak & Smaak

Hailing from the Netherlands, breakbeat trio Kraak & Smaak, known for their association with British label Jalapeno Records, garnered widespread acclaim for their energetic live performances and received significant airplay on BBC Radio 1. Comprising Oscar de Jong, Mark Kneppers, and Wim Plug, the trio expanded their lineup on stage with Rose Spearman and Marc Baronner, while DJ Sargon joined them for their DJ sets. Their debut EP, Money in the Bag, released in 2003, marked the beginning of a successful career that included festival appearances at renowned events such as Glastonbury and Coachella. Their subsequent releases, including the album Boogie Angst (2005) and Plastic People (2008), solidified their reputation as a dynamic force in the music scene.

Kraak & Smaak's seamless blend of breakbeat and electronic elements, coupled with collaborations with notable artists like Ben Westbeech, Dudley Perkins, and Georgia Ann Muldrow, led to chart-topping success with singles like "Squeeze Me." Their remix work showcased their versatility and innovation, culminating in the compilation The Remix Sessions (2007). With a dedicated following and a string of hit singles, Kraak & Smaak continued to push boundaries and captivate audiences both on stage and in the studio, solidifying their position as one of the leading acts in the electronic music realm.
