Formed in Eskilstuna in 1990, Kent quickly rose to fame as one of the biggest Swedish bands of the mid-'90s indie pop scene. Led by singer/songwriter Joakim Berg and guitarist Sami Sirvio, the band's lineup solidified with the addition of Markus Mustonen, Martin Skold, and Martin Roos. Kent's debut album in 1995 initially struggled to gain traction, but singles like "Kram (Sa Nara Far Ingen Ga)" from their follow-up, Verkligen, propelled them to massive success. The band's melancholic sound, reminiscent of Radiohead, continued to evolve with albums like Isola in 1997, which topped the Swedish charts.

Kent's success continued with albums like Hagnesta Hill (2000) and Vapen & Ammunition (2002), selling hundreds of thousands of copies in Scandinavia.
