In 2003, Kelly was discovered by Sarah and Bonsai Shongwe at a Gospel Star Search when her powerful voice stood out in a performance of a familiar gospel song. She quickly rose to become one of South Africa's biggest stars known for her voice's ability to captivate any audience.

After being discovered by Bonsai Shongwe, Kelly was promptly put into the studio to record her debut album, "TKO," which was released in August 2005. The album's hit song "Qinisela" garnered much acclaim, earning Kelly multiple nominations at the South African Music Awards (SAMA), including a nod in the Song of the Year category where she was the sole female artist nominated. The success of "Qinisela" solidified Kelly's status as a rising star, with the song remaining on national radio charts for five months.
