Biography
The zouk scene originated from a studio collaboration led by Guadeloupian Pierre-Edouard Decimus in the late '70s, after his success with Les Vikings de la Guadeloupe. Teaming up with his brother Georges and Jacob Desvarieux in Paris, they incorporated Antilles musical traditions with modern recording technology, leading to the birth of zouk music by 1985. Kassav', the core group, comprised of key members like Jocelyne Beroard and Jean-Philippe Marthely, released numerous studio albums and solo projects, shaping the evolving zouk sound with each release.
Kassav's early experimental releases paved the way for the development of the zouk genre, with significant contributions from Desvarieux and the Decimus brothers.
