Biography
Kalaido is the brainchild of Portland-based composer and producer Phoenix Glendinning, known for his melodic, instrumental hip hop sound that combines live instruments, field recordings, and VSTs. After debuting with Moonlit Tales in December 2018 through College Music, Kalaido has released singles and remixes on labels like United Common Records, Hip Dozer, and Night Time Stories. His latest release, Ghosts of the Floating World, came out in April 2021 with Lofi Girl.
In 2025, Kalaido is poised to release his third album, "In Praise of Shadows," marking a stylistic shift towards live instrumentation and incorporating jazz, ambient, and house elements alongside his signature lofi/instrumental hip hop style. Apart from Kalaido, Phoenix Glendinning also creates orchestral soundtrack music under his own name and has composed original OSTs for video games like Leaving Lyndow (2017) and Eastshade (2019).
