Biography

Norwegian sextet Kaizers Orchestra, formed in Bergen in the late '90s, blend cathartic rock with influences from Tin Pan Alley and Eastern European folk music. Consisting of Jan Ove Ottesen, Geir Zahl, Helge Risa, Øyvind Storesund, Terge Vinterstøen, and Rune Solheim, the band's unique sound led to a record deal with Broiler Farm. Their debut, Ompa Til du Dør (2001), became the highest-selling rock debut in Norwegian language, followed by successful albums like Evig Pint (2003) and Maestro (2005) under Universal Germany. After a trilogy project, Violeta Violeta, the band retired in 2013 following their tour.
