Justin Robertson, a successful DJ, remixer, and producer known for his work as Lionrock, took a traditional path to success, starting as a record clerk in Manchester before gaining recognition for his remixes for artists like the Shamen and Erasure. His solo debut in 1992 and subsequent signing with Deconstruction led to the release of his full-length debut as Lionrock, "An Instinct for Detection," in 1994, which showcased his unconventional mix of instrumentation and house breaks. Robertson's diverse influences were further highlighted in his 1996 mix CD for Journeys by DJ, solidifying his place in electronic dance music.

Following the cult success of "An Instinct for Detection," Robertson continued to release sporadic Lionrock albums, including 1998's "City Delirious," before transitioning to producing under his own name with 2001's "Revtone." Known for his innovative remix work and eclectic live performances featuring guitars and percussion, Robertson's career exemplifies a unique blend of underground credibility and mainstream appeal in the electronic music scene.
