Silbert Walton, born in 1957 in St. Ann, Jamaica, began his music career as Jah Walton in 1976, recording tracks for various producers including Joe Gibbs and Harry Mudie. His success continued into the 1980s with hits like 'All Kinda People Come To The Dance' and 'No Touch The Style', which led to a name change to Joseph Cotton and a chart-topping single in the UK. He later collaborated with producer Glen Brown and released popular tracks like 'Bad Boy Train' in the early 90s.

In the late 90s, Cotton continued to release music like 'Smile Orange' and 'You Sexy Thing', as well as collaborations such as 'Warm And Tender Love' with Sylvia Tella. He made appearances at events like the Essential Festival Weekender in 1997, showcasing his dancehall prowess alongside other artists like Dennis Alcapone.
