Joseph Arthur

Joseph Arthur is a respected singer/songwriter whose music blends indie rock with expressive lyrics. Influenced by artists like Bob Dylan and Kurt Cobain, Arthur self-released an EP in 1996 that caught the attention of Peter Gabriel, leading to a record deal with Real World label. His albums, including Big City Secrets and Come to Where I'm From, have garnered critical acclaim and showcased his confessional storytelling. In 2007, Arthur launched his own label, Lonely Astronaut, giving him greater creative control over projects like The Ballad of Boogie Christ and Lou, a collection of Lou Reed covers.

Born in Akron, Ohio in 1971, Joseph Arthur began his music career as a bass player before transitioning to songwriting in his twenties. Signed to Real World Records by Peter Gabriel, Arthur released his debut album, Big City Secrets, in 1997, which laid the foundation for a successful career as a musician and visual artist.
