Johnny Tillotson, a pop/rock singer and songwriter, achieved major success in the early '60s with hits like "Poetry in Motion" and "It Keeps Right on a-Hurtin'." He placed 30 singles and LPs on the Billboard charts between 1958 and 1984, spanning various genres. Tillotson's career included extensive touring in the U.S. and abroad, sustaining his popularity well into the 21st century.

Born in Florida in 1938, Tillotson began his music career on his father's radio station and gained recognition through a national talent contest. Signed to Cadence Records, he released his first single in 1958 and found success with "Poetry in Motion" in 1960.
