谷村新司

Shinji Tanimura, born on December 11, 1948, rose to prominence in Japan during the 1970s as a founding member of the band Alice. Following the disbandment of Alice, Tanimura achieved widespread recognition with his hit song "Subaru" in 1980, inspired by a visit to China. The song not only became a major success but also played a role in fostering relations between Japan and China, a cause he continued to support. Tanimura's influence extended beyond Japan, with performances in various Asian countries and contributions to the music of artists such as Alan Tam and Leslie Cheung.

In 2003, Tanimura organized a benefit concert that raised funds to combat the SARS epidemic in China, showcasing his commitment to humanitarian efforts. He later took on a teaching position at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in 2004 and performed at significant events like China's World Expo Opening Ceremony in 2010. Recognized for his musical contributions and philanthropic endeavors, Tanimura was honored by Japan and China with a concert commemorating the 30th anniversary of their diplomatic relations.
