Gazo, born Ibrahima Diakité in 1994, emerged as a prominent figure in the French rap scene in 2020 with his unique Parisian take on UK drill. Raised between Paris and the Seine-Denis suburbs, Gazo drew inspiration from London's drill scene for his online freestyle series "DRILL FR" in late 2019, collaborating with Freeze Corleone for its fourth edition, "DRILL FR 4." His raw lyrics and catchy ad-libs helped propel drill music from the underground to the mainstream in France.
In 2020, Gazo gained further recognition after contributing to albums by French artists Jul and Gims, before releasing his own major label debut, "DRILL FR," in 2021. The album, characterized by its intense beats and gritty reflections on Parisian street life, quickly climbed the French charts and spawned popular singles like "KASSAV" and "HAINE&SEX."
