Formed in 2000 in Belton, Texas, Flyleaf is a hard rock band known for their potent anthems that explore themes of despair and hope. Led by vocalist Lacey Sturm, the band achieved success in the late 2000s, with their 2005 debut album Flyleaf earning platinum certification. After Sturm's departure in 2012, Kristen May briefly took over vocal duties before leaving in 2016. In 2022, Flyleaf reunited with Sturm, releasing a deluxe edition of their debut album and announcing plans for a series of reunion shows.
Initially known as Passerby, Flyleaf was founded by Sturm and drummer James Culpepper in 2000, later adding guitarists Sameer Bhattacharya and Jared Hartmann, and bassist Pat Seals. The band's rise to success included opening for acts like Bowling for Soup and Riddlin' Kids, leading to a record deal with Octone Records in 2004.
