Biography

The Eraserheads, formed at University of the Philippines in 1989, are a significant presence in Pinoy rock music history. Comprised of Ely Buendia, Marcus Adoro, Buddy Zabala, and Raymund Marasigan, the band transitioned from playing covers to crafting their own music, eventually gaining attention with their debut album, Ultraelectromagneticpop, released in 1993. Their independent spirit and distinctive sound resonated with audiences, leading to commercial success in the Philippines and limited international recognition, including airplay on KROQ in Los Angeles. The band's album Cutterpillow became the highest-selling album in the Philippines, certified platinum eight times.

In 1998, the Eraserheads expanded their reach with the release of the compilation album Aloha Milkyway in the Asian market. Their music, often likened to the impact of Nirvana in the alternative music scene, continued to garner acclaim, with the band's 2001 release Carbon Stereoxide marking another chapter in their musical journey.
