Biography

Ennio Morricone, born in Rome in 1928, was a prolific composer known for his work in film music. He began composing at a young age and studied harmony and composition at the Santa Cecilia Conservatory. Morricone's career in music started in jazz bands and as a staff composer, arranger, and conductor for Italian radio and television. He gained recognition in the early 1960s for his distinctive style in scoring western films.

Morricone's breakthrough came with his work on the Italian-made western "A Fistful of Dollars" in 1964, directed by Sergio Leone and starring Clint Eastwood.
