Eddie Santiago, a sonero known for his contributions to the salsa genre, gained recognition with his 1986 debut album "Atrevido y Diferente," which marked the beginning of the "salsa romantico" movement. Santiago's early career saw him performing with various orchestras before joining Conjunto Chaney in 1984. His collaboration with producer Frank Torres and arranger Tommy Villariny led to a string of successful albums throughout the '80s and '90s, with hits like "Lluvia" and "Insaciable."

In 1999, Santiago signed with Sony and released "Celebración: Epic Duets," featuring re-recordings of his popular songs with other artists. Over the years, he continued to release albums and compilations, with notable success on the charts and at award shows.
