Descendents, originating from L.A.’s South Bay in 1978, initially comprised bassist Tony Lombardo, drummer Bill Stevenson, and guitarist Frank Navetta. Vocalist Milo Aukerman joined in 1980, solidifying the band's presence in the Southern California Punk scene and establishing them as punk icons with their enduring chemistry and unified vision. In 2002, the original quartet reunited to record their earliest songs dating back to 1977-1980, unveiling previously unheard material that captures the essence of their formative years before their seminal releases.

The band's "lost" pre-Milo Goes to College album, titled "9th & Walnut," features songs written during their early days, including tracks from when Navetta was just 14 years old.
