Biography

David Holmes, a Belfast-born music producer and composer, drew inspiration from classic film composers and dancefloor innovators to create a unique blend of spacious, theatrical productions. His transition from successful albums to award-winning movie scores, notably for the 1998 film Out of Sight, marked the beginning of his thriving career in film composition. Holmes' early exposure to punk rock and DJ'ing in his hometown led to collaborations with leading DJs and the establishment of his own club night, Sugar Sweet, in Northern Ireland.

Holmes' diverse musical background and early success in remixing paved the way for his debut album, This Film's Crap, Let's Slash the Seats, in 1995. His subsequent projects included scoring major Hollywood films like Ocean's Eleven and Ocean's Thirteen, as well as forming the studio band the Free Association. Over the years, Holmes continued to push boundaries with his music, winning awards for his compositions in films like Hunger and '71, and exploring new projects such as the band Unloved and his directorial debut, I Am Here.
