Biography

CYNE, short for Cultivating Your New Experience, emerged in the late '90s, drawing inspiration from boom-bap production and politically conscious rhymes of hip-hop pioneers like Public Enemy and Gang Starr. They released their first album, Time Being, in 2003, and have since collaborated with influential artists such as Nujabes and Four Tet, solidifying their reputation with albums like Water for Mars and All My Angles Are Right.

Formed by producers Speck and Enoch, along with rappers Cise Star and Akin Yai, CYNE gained early recognition with the "African Elephants" single in 2001. They garnered international support, releasing albums through labels in Germany and Japan, including Evolution Fight on City Centre Offices. After a series of releases, they settled with Hometapes and continued to evolve their sound, culminating in releases like All My Angles Are Right in 2014 and Wasteland, Vol. 2 in 2017, following Akin's departure from the group.
